We strongly believe that keeping children’s teeth healthy during their developmental years is critical. We recommend bringing your child in for a check-up as soon as their first teeth appear, typically at around six months of age.

Studies show that the earlier you introduce your child to a dentist, the less fear they are likely to experience when visiting a dental practice later in life.

Our team of dental and healthcare professionals are child-friendly and will do their very best to make the experience fun and exciting for your child. Your dentist can also take early preventative measures such as applying fluoride treatment and fissure sealants to your child’s teeth to help prevent tooth decay.

When caring for your children’s teeth at home, only use unsweetened milk in your baby bottles and limit the use of a dummy wherever possible. As your children get older, teach them how to brush properly and make sure their toothpaste contains fluoride, a strengthening mineral that helps prevent tooth decay.

Encourage a healthy, balanced diet and limit sugary snacks and fizzy drinks to treat times. Sugar attacks the tooth enamel and can be highly damaging to young teeth.

It is also at a young age that orthodontic issues tend to first manifest themselves. Though these problems aren’t totally preventable, the earlier a dentist can diagnose them, the more options you have for treatment. Issues like overbites, underbites and crossbites are much easier to treat in the earlier stages of your child’s development.
