In cases where a patient has lost several adjacent teeth, their dentist may recommend a bridge to close the gap, restoring their bite and their smile.
Conventional bridgework involves the preparation of the teeth at either end of the gap. Sometimes, the dentist will fit crowns to these two anchor teeth to reinforce them, enabling them to support the bridge.
For optimal strength and stability, patients can opt for an implant-supported bridge. Your dentist inserts the implants that will hold the bridge in place. Once the gums have healed and the implants have fused with the surrounding bone, the dentist attaches the bridge to the implants.
